Questions

Residential Remodel — common questions

Do I need to rewire the whole house for a remodel?

Usually not. Most Bitterroot Valley remodels need the remodeled area brought fully up to code plus whatever the added load requires — often a panel upgrade. A full rewire is a real recommendation for knob-and-tube, aluminum branch wiring, or ungrounded two-wire circuits throughout. We tell you which situation you are in before you spend anything.

Will a kitchen or bath remodel need a panel upgrade?

Sometimes. Kitchens add dedicated small-appliance, dishwasher, disposal, microwave, and range circuits; baths add their own. If the existing panel is full or the service is undersized, those circuits have nowhere to go. We check the panel and the service size at the walkthrough so it is not a surprise mid-project.

Can you add circuits, outlets, and lighting to an older Bitterroot home?

Yes, and it is a lot of what we do. Older valley homes are typically short on outlets, short on kitchen and bath circuits, and lit by a single ceiling fixture per room. Adding circuits, recessed lighting, under-cabinet lighting, exterior lighting, and modern switching to an existing home is routine work here.

How disruptive is electrical work during a remodel?

Less than most people fear. Power stays on outside the work area, cuts are planned and patched to be minimal, and the site gets cleaned up every day. Josh does the work himself, so nobody unfamiliar is wandering through your house.
